Aircraft Nose Radome: Inspection, Damage Assessment and Repair Become Certified as Aircraft Radome Repair Technician

This course is specially designed for who intend to become certified as aircraft radome repair technicians. 

 

Person(s) who successfully complete this aircraft radome repair training program are considered to be able to perform inspection and bonded repairs to the radome structures in compliance with the manufacturers repair documentation or other acceptable repair data.

  • Course Duration: 5 Working days. 
  • Prerequisites: Advanced Composite Program Level 2 or equivalent
  • Learning Hours:
    • ​​Classroom: 7 hours.
    • Practical Hours: 33 hours

  • Introduction to Aircraft Radomes.
  • Description and Operations.
  • Aircraft Radome Cleaning.
  • Source Documents OEM.
  • Aircraft Radome Inspection/ check.
  • Written Test.
  • Hands-on Excercises.
  • Practical Assessment.

 

Hands-on Exercises: 
Learning by Doing. 

  • Find repair step to be taken in the Aircraft type related OEM-SRM-CMM manuals for Radomes.
  • Demonstrate proper safety practices while exhibiting the skills necessary to repair the aircraft radome

    utilizing sanding techniques, wet lay up and prepreg, film adhesive, vacuum bagging techniques, and hot

    bond equipment.

  • Apply dry cycles according to the OEM manual to remove water ingress

  • Demonstrate the skills by accomplishing a minimum of three of the repairs listed below to the instructor and meet the criteria in the repair documentation.

  • Inspect the aircraft radome after the repair and is able to a paint touch up.

  • Apply debulks.
